Europa: Avances Legislativos y Sociales

We all love Cassidy and all transgender queens!

Hopefully a growing trend, high schools in America are trying to become more tolerant and civilized. This case let us see that American teenagers have a different mindset about their lives and their relationships than their parents had.

Teenagers at Huntington Beach School have shown a different face of the average hateful, arrogant stereotype we see in movies and tv shows. Cassidy Lynn Campbell a 16 year old transgender student has been voted Homecoming Queen.

This is the America we want to be proud in the future, not the bullying one.

We want a pink world map

Good News!!!  UK has been next and France has been too.... They  have entered the club of civilized countries by legalizing Equal Marriage this week. But still looking at the world map and comparing theses 11 trendsetter countries, that have approved equal marriage against so many others that still penalize and moralize the topic, we have a lot of work ahead and still a lot to talk about. Which country may be next?

ENGLISH

This exhibition presents sexual diversity as something universal to all cultures, it has been created for young people between the ages of 12 and 20, so they can understand that there is a wide range of options for their sexual life both now and trough their lives. It contains an appreciation of multiple legacies of Human Experience in different times and places.

Amor Universal Love will present photographic works, publications, film and objects, and will tour public libraries, schools and educational venues in Europe.

Active participation in the social Imaginarium of each collectivity has enormous bearing on the manner in which its existence is played out and its validity upheld, thus providing meaningful cultural perceptions about each groups co existential roles. . At present, there have been few visible cultural manifestations attesting to a meaningful participation of the GLBT community in our countrys daily public life. In the realm of cultural products, it is difficult to encounter specific manifestations of the dynamics of the members of the GLBT community-namely, symbols and expressions of the creativity, the lifestyle, ideas and experiences inherent to this particular milieu.

Some Artists on the exhibit are

David Wojnarovic, Dennis Cooper, Barbra Hammer, Mariette Pathy Allen, Carlos Gutierrez-Solana, Jorge Veras, Santiago Echeverry, Sandra Rengifo, Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin, Mujeres al Borde, among others.

An impressive global program for the 7th edition of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia is taking place around May 17th with hundreds of events planned in over 50 countries. The Day’s activities take place among growing international tensions between progressive developments and reactionary outbursts, including the now infamous Ugandan ‘anti-gay’ bill which again risks being passed in the Parliament this very week.

All over the world, thousands of activists are gearing up for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, also known by its acronym IDAHO. This year’s IDAHO will break records of mobilisation and outreach, as an estimated 50 million people will be exposed to campaign messages in about 50 countries, calling for an end to discrimination and violence against people on the grounds of sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

Amongst many noteworthy events, organisations in 14 countries across Latin America will unite in a common campaign and unfold dozens of public activities to denounce the ‘Cures that Kill’, the so-called ‘therapies’ to supposedly ‘cure’ sexual and gender diversity, often driving people to suicide. This regional campaign has launched an appeal and invites citizens across the world to support this call online at:  http://www.dayagainsthomophobia.org

Amor Universal Love´s first preview exhibition in Barcelona

Five years have passed since we started this project with the support of the NYU Fales Library, NYC LGBT Center and Visual Aids. Now AmorUniversaLove moves to Europe to start a new journey starting in Barcelona.

In a new and very different context, the historical research and artistic references have grown exponentially, new points of view, cultures and information have become part of an already eclectic body of work.

The first Barcelona preview exhibition will include a collection of works from cartoonists and graphic novel artists from Catalonia, Interviews with local activists who shaped the path of what the we enjoy today in Spain, being of the countries in the world with equal Civil rights granted to the LGBT community, and a press board where the history of recent years can be checked at a glance.

This first preview exhibition will be held at the main hall of the CCOO (Workers Guild of Catalonia) to celebrate the annual day against homophobia, trying to capture the attention of companies and syndicates about homophobia at the workplace. We have gathered 4 experts that will discuss on a workshop facts about this issue and testimonials of the subtle way discrimination is currently held in many companies and multinationals.

It is an exciting experience to develop a whole new research about the struggles people and leaders have been trough in Spain and specially in Catalonia during and after Franco´s dictatorship and the way certain things still remain in everyday life.

We have found that Catalonia´s  LGBT history is full of initiatives, creative leaders and vision that still fight for a better life and understanding of sexual diversity.

Research and materials are still in development, new artists, organizations and publications will certainly be included and hopefully very soon, the whole project will be traveling across towns and be exhibited in local libraries and community centers.

Fat, gay and proud: a new kind of Venezuelan beauty queen

From the Guardian

Music swells, lights flash and the contestants strut on to the stage, waving and blowing kisses. All wear high heels, bikinis and wide smiles.
It is another beauty pageant in Venezuela, a self-styled "beauty superpower" which worships physical perfection and has won the two most recent Miss Universe titles. But this show in Caracas is different. Even from the back of the theatre you noticesomething striking about the contestants. They are men. Large, chubby men.
Welcome to Miss Fat Gay Venezuela, a pageant with a new type of queen. The contest, the first of its kind, smashes taboos in a society that equates beauty with svelte, cosmetically enhanced women.

RON YOSSEF gay rabbi defends adoption for gays/lesbians

Rabbi Burstein insists that he is not legitimising homosexuality within the religious community.

“Of course we believe it is a problem and that the solution should be therapy, but there are always going to be a certain number of religious homosexuals who have tried and failed to change. What about them?”

While it is identified with the national-religious community in Israel, PUAH also receives halachic guidance from many of the senior Charedi rabbis, including Yosef Shalom Elyashiv and Ovadia Yossef. Rabbi Burstein consulted with both on the homosexual issue. After receiving the rabbis’ authorisation, the next step is to consult with a number of leading children’s psychologists in order to ascertain that children born into such a framework can grow up happily and normally.

Rabbi Ron Yossef, who leads Hod, a support group for religious homosexuals, says that such marriages already exist.

“It is done with complete transparency. Both partners are fully aware of everything and the objective is to have and raise children according to halachah.”

He says that in most of the cases, the wife is an older woman who has failed to find a partner, and so is willing to enter such a marriage in order to have a child. In a minority of the cases the wife is a lesbian.

Alert Uganda !

A Member of Parliament of Uganda submitted a draft bill introducing the death penalty for homosexual practices.
David Bahati also advocates the death penalty for those who do sex with the disabled, under 18 or when the accused is HIV positive, says the BBC News website.
The truth is that, according to some analysts, this bill has good chances to advance, as several political leaders and the president has to defend positions against gays.
Advocates of homosexuals in Uganda estimate that a country with about 31 million, there are about 500 thousand people with this orientation.

Italian hetero couple complaints

A cruise aboard in a sublime boat. It was the dream of an Italian couple, husband and wife, residing in Trevi, a town in Umbria. A dream come true when our two lovebirds win a contest. Alas, when they embarked for Barcelona Saturday, September 19, they realize they have fallen in the middle of “Revuelta”, the first gay and lesbian cruise organized by the Italian group Gay.it.

"Shut up in their cabins"

The couple, who have chosen the travel catalog, say not having seen nothing and nobody warned them. Because of this "surprise", they sought compensation of 3,000 euros in damages to the shipping company Grimaldi, guilty, according to them, having failed in its catalog, "the special LGBT cruise”.

"When they arrived at the port, my clients have insight into the media surrounding the boat, said Antonio Francesconi, the lawyer handling the case. They initially thought that a prominent person was on board. But in fact they were covering the event: 1 500 passengers on this cruise were gay! "

"My clients have experienced a sense of embarrassment because of the atmosphere and rather daring performances held on the ship and they spent their holidays locked in their cabins," he added, assuring that "it is not a question of discrimination, but an unfortunate misunderstanding that we must compensate.

"Homophobia in Italian society"

The couple's sulking in any case did not vitiate the atmosphere of the cruise, as a result of its success, a new “Revuelta” was announced in 2010.

A don't smoke campaign .

Insert a phallic object in his mouth for a guy, that's still a little queer ...

In any case, the ironic conclusion of a satirical website false American, The Onion. The site has been the specialty of diverting the major topics of debate at the time, and is generally well done.

It's still the case here, with a false public information campaign, and a fake news flash (video below), inspired by the release of a member firm of Tom Coburn, a Republican senator very religious Oklahoma. On September 21, to oppose pornography among youth, it has been hypothesized that questionable "movies make porno gay!

Absurdity for absurdity, so making gay porn, why not smoking? And to scare American youth, who often use the word "gay" as an insult, easy, trying to make them believe that smoking is gay.

Coming Out in Middle School By BENOIT DENIZET-LEWIS

original post at NYTIMES

Austin didn’t know what to wear to his first gay dance last spring. It was bad enough that the gangly 13-year-old from Sand Springs, Okla., had to go without his boyfriend at the time, a 14-year-old star athlete at another middle school, but there were also laundry issues. “I don’t have any clean clothes!” he complained to me by text message, his favored method of communication..

When I met up with him an hour later, he had weathered his wardrobe crisis (he was in jeans and a beige T-shirt with musical instruments on it) but was still a nervous wreck. “I’m kind of scared,” he confessed. “Who am I going to talk to? I wish my boyfriend could come.

” But his boyfriend couldn’t find anyone to give him a ride nor, Austin explained, could his boyfriend ask his father for one. “His dad would give him up for adoption if he knew he was gay,” Austin told me. “I’m serious. He has the strictest, scariest dad ever. He has to date girls and act all tough so that people won’t suspect.”

The Nazis and the Gays

At one time it was fashionable to claim that the Nazis accepted homosexuality. Partly this was a way to slur the Nazis [as if they need slurring], and partly a reflection of the suppressed homoeroticism of Nazi visual expression. What was overlooked until the 1970s, and the publication of a series of articles by James Steakley in the Toronto Body Politic (quite possibly the best bi-weekly ever.

In recent years this forgetting has been overcome. Thanks to the efforts of Steakley, Richard Plant and Burchhard Jellonek, as well as the publication by Hans Heger [pseud.] of his memoirs, and the play Bent by Martin Shaw, the suffering of gays under the Third Reich has become well known. Now the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC makes sure to explicate the issues involved.

The total number of gays killed seems to have been about 15,000 [figures from Jellonek], mostly by being worked to death. Gays were not sent as gays to extermination camps. This is massively smaller than the devastation visited on Jewish, Gypsy and Serbian populations. But documenting the Nazi attacks on homosexuals is not part of a "catch-up" game with Jews, or other groups. It is rather an exposing of the possible effects of dehumanizing any group.

Recently some members of the American Religious Right [a diverse group that should no more be demonized than any other], have taken to denying the gay holocaust, and in fact asserting that the Nazi part was essentially homosexual. This is nonsense, and not one serious historian countenances the charge. Nevertheless the book - The Pink Swastika - which makes this charge has been subjected to a line by line refutation, available via here.

Are Homosexuals Gay?

Absolutely no comment.

This is the type of picture you can interpret in many ways.
It reminds me of the West Side Story song: "I feel pretty"

what´s your opinion?

THE QUEER PEACE

The library of green magazine issues just got bigger. Genre, a US magazine for gay men recently published their very own 'green issue'. Not many people get to say they bought a gay magazine for the articles, but I just did. I have to say, I'm really impressed. The green theme actually shows up throughout the magazine (unlike some of the other green issue contenders in which a couple articles and a page on green styles seems to suffice). For instance, did you know that C-N2 offers a line of bamboo underwear, including briefs, tanks, boxer briefs and trunks? Finally, some cool stuff for guys. Lots of other green products, feature articles, and even some humorous green bashing to round things out a bit. Kudos to the good green gays!

It makes me guess it is the Sustainable Development week what the Queers are doing now to make earth clean?

Gay Muslims another point of view
